Greentown Youth Baseball started the 2011 season with a parade on Saturday, May 7.  Each team decorated a float, which was a pickup truck or a trailer.  The parade proceeded from the fairgrounds to the high school, where opening ceremonies were conducted and every team played a game or two.
There are 209 boys and girls enrolled in the Greentown league this year.  The players are placed on teams according to age, 4-6, 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15.  Those age 7-12 will be playing in the City (Kokomo) Tourney.  They will be traveling around the county playing Kokomo and other county teams.  The schedule is posted on

the webpage,  www.GreentownBaseball.com.  Greentown has 4 diamonds.  The T-ball, Rookie and Major league diamonds are north of the high school parking lot.  The Jr. High diamond is at the fairgrounds, off the Meridian Street entrance. The Greentown league has reached out to help Maconaquah players, since they lost their Jr. High baseball field in a tornado.  Players and parents from both schools, as well as many sponsors and individuals, revamped and cleaned up the Greentown Fairgrounds field so both teams can use it.
The regular season will conclude with Closing Ceremonies on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Major League Diamond.
