Steven Hubler

Steven B. Hubler

May 10, 1945 - May 7, 2012

  Steven B. Hubler, 66, Kokomo, died at 9:12 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at North Woods Commons, Kokomo. Steven was born May 10, 1945, in Red Bank, N.J., the son of Bryce and Ellabelle (Mohler) Hubler. Steven’s wife, Edna, preceded him in death in 1985.
   Steve was a graduate of Eastern High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Ethiopia from 1965 until 1969. He worked as a systems analyst following his military service. Steve was a member of Greentown Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post #317.
   Steve is survived by his mother, Ellabelle Hubler, Greentown; brother, Dan Hubler, Sydney, Ohio; niece, Lyndsey (Waverly) Marcum, Mobile, Ala.; and one great-nephew, Waverly Tilmon Marcum.
   Steve was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Edna Hubler.
   No services are planned. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.

Lloyd Cheek

Lloyd Cheek

Apr. 8, 1931 - May 19, 2012

   Lloyd Cheek, 81, of Frankfort, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Clinton House Health Care, Frankfort.
   He was born April 8, 1931 in Howard County, to Charles and Sarah Eva (Ronk) Cheek. He married Constance Hinkle, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 7, 1983, he married Patricia A. Lee, who survives.
   Mr. Cheek was a 1949 graduate of Eastern High School, and a 1953 graduate of Indiana University. He served in the U. S. Air Force, and was a home builder and real estate agent in Kokomo for 50 years. He owned and operated Cheek Realty for 42 years before retiring in 2004. He was a 50-year member of the Greentown Masonic Lodge No. 341, a past member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge, Indiana Association Board of Realtors, National Association Board of Realtors, past president Kokomo Board of Realtors, he was also awarded the Professional Milestone award and was a member of Manson Congregational Christian Church. He was an avid I.U. fan and his greatest joy was his grandchildren.
   In addition to his wife, Patricia Lee Cheek, he is survived by a son: Lloyd (Susie) Cheek II of Los Angeles; a daughter, Connie Jo (Richard) Wilson of San Luis Obispo, Calif; stepsons: Philip Lee of Colfax, Steven Lee of Frankfort and Jeffrey (Patti) Lee of Frankfort; nine grandchildren: Natalie (Nick) Reyes, Lloyd Cheek III, Johnna (Nick) Melton, Heather Robison, Zachery Lee, Derek (Kelly) Lee, Samantha (Zach) Lee, Alex Lee and Ian Lee; five great-grandchildren: Blake Melton, Braden Robison, Colby Melton, Sophie Robison and Bryce Lee; a brother: Dr. Joe (Nancy) Cheek of Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister: Wilma Middlesworth of Marion; two sister-in-laws: Milda Cheek and Eva Cheek, both of Greentown; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother: Floyd Cheek; brother: John Cheek; and brother-in-law Darrell Middlesworth.
   Services were Thursday May 24 at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main Greentown, with brother-in-law Jeff Chynoweth officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Memorials may be made to Manson Congregational Christian Church and/or Rainbow Haven Transitional Housing, both of Frankfort. Arrangements were handled by Hasler-Stout Funeral Home. Blaine Bagwell

Aug. 17, 1921 - Mar.31, 2012

   Blaine Bagwell, 90, Greentown, passed away at his home 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012. He was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Howard County to the late Clarence and Olive (Ball) Bagwell. Blaine was a 1939 graduate of Greentown High School. On March 24, 1940, he married Bonnie Redinbaugh, who survives. Blaine served his country as a Marine from 1944 to 1946.
   Blaine retired from Delco Electronics as a pipefitter in 1986 after 21 years of service. Over the years Blaine worked at Rocky Johnson Plumbing, with Keith Carr as a plumber and pipefitter, at General Electric, at Globe American Stove Co., and also farmed for several years. Blaine and his wife had the Gift Shop in Greentown from 1958 to 1968.
   He enjoyed taking care of his yard and flowers, fishing and hunting mushrooms. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and over the years he and his wife shared their home with family and others who needed a place to stay. In the last four years, he gave his life to Jesus, and was prepared to meet him at his passing.

   Services were Thursday, April 5, at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, Greentown, with Pastor Randy Blankenship officiating. Rosella ‘Rose’ Buckley

   Rosella “Rose” Buckley, 92, Greentown, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown. Rose was born April 26, 1919, in Brazil, daughter of George and Minnie (Stout) Rogers. Rose married John S. Buckley on June 6, 1934. He preceded her in death July 5, 1987.
   She worked as a beautician and nurses aide, was a member of Meridian Street Christian Church, and was a former member of the Rebecca Club.
   Rose is survived by children, John F. (Janet) Buckley, Kokomo, Judy J. (Don) Fox, Kokomo, Joseph A. (Nancy) Buckley, Greentown, Jack E. (Sharron) Buckley, Peru, Jefrey (Cheyrl) Buckley, Greentown, Janna R. (Larry) Hyman, Russiaville, and Jada S. (Gary) Haun, Kokomo; one brother, John Rogers, Elwood; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Barbara Ann Buckley; two brothers, James and Jesse Rogers; two sisters, Ethel Rexroat and Jewell Porter; and one grandson, Adam Hyman.
   Services were Saturday, April 21, at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, Greentown, with burial in Nevada Cemetery.

Obituary - Delagrange

Michael Delagrange

Jan. 18, 1970 - Mar. 20, 2012

   Michael Jay Delagrange, 42, of Greentown went home to glory at 11:13 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at his residence.  Born on January 18, 1970, in Ft. Wayne,  he was the son of James L. and Marie (Eicher) Delagrange.  On August 25, 1990, he was married to Christi Voorhis, who survives.  He was a 1988 graduate of Woodlan High School and a 1994 graduate of IPFW.
   Mike was a CPA for 8 years at DWD in Marion before he purchased the Kehrer Fish Company which he has operated for the past 10 years.  Mike was a member of Christain Life Fellowship Church in Greentown and enjoyed participating in the Community Choir.  He loved hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and most of all testifying to the greatness of God.  Mike was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.  He had such a tender and gracious spirit toward others and will be missed.
   Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are a daughter, Caitlyn and soon to be adopted sons Jaylen and Malachi; brother, Jeff (Stacey) Delagrange, New Haven; sister, Jayne Delagrange, Columbus, OH; sister, Melissa (Chris) Freehling, Spencerville; grandmother Ruth Voorhis, Greentown, father and mother in law Gary and Arlene Voorhis, Greentown; and brother in law, Vance (Danielle) Voorhis, Tipton; nieces and nephews, Jenna, Jared, Jaclyn, Jordan Delagrange, Micah and Micayah Voorhis.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Services were held at Christian Life Fellowship 1009 Holiday Drive Greentown Saturday March 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Hoover officiating.  Burial  followed the service in Jerome Cemetery.
   A memorial celebration was held on Sunday, April 1 at North Leo Mennonite Church 15419 State Road #1 Leo, Indiana.

obituary - Jenkins

Fred Jenkins

Feb. 2, 1937 - Mar. 3, 2012

   Frederick Howard Jenkins, 75, Greentown, left his earthly home for an eternal one at 2:15 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. 
   He was born February 2, 1937, in Delphi, Indiana, the son of Howard G. and Irene (Golden) Jenkins.  He married Rachel Louisa Jordan on January 29, 1961, in Meridian Street Christian Church, Greentown.
   He was a 1955 graduate of Eastern High School and
attended Purdue University.  He was employed for a time by Continental Steel and the Marion-Chronicle Tribune.  
   Beginning 1964, he was a professional photographer, co-owning Jenkins Studio with his wife.  He was President of the Professional Photographers of Indiana 1975-76.  He obtained the degree of Master Photographer, awarded by the Professional Photographers of America.  He had formerly been a member of the Greentown Lions Club.  He was a member of South Side Christian Church in Kokomo and appreciated the beliefs and practices of many religions.  In lieu of military service, he served his country as a Conscientious Objector 1960-62, working in Home Hospital in Lafayette. 
   He enjoyed his milk goats and sharing cheese made from their milk.  He learned several heritage crafts, including black-smithing, wood working, spinning and weaving.  In all things, he willingly shared his knowledge and leaves behind many people who learned to spin or weave from him.
   Fred is survived by his wife, Rachel; son Mark Jenkins and
wife Lisa of Goldsmith; daughter Sarah Cotton of Greentown; daughter Heather Jenkins and husband Rick Mouser of Tipton, and son-in-
law, Michael Altman.  He is also survived by granddaughter Abby Altman and grandson Eric Altman and step-grandchildren, Kim Reecer, Courtney Reecer, Rick Mouser and wife Brandi, Micah Mouser and wife Rayna, and Nicholas Mouser and wife Stephanie, and seven step-great grandchildren.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, 3 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, and several cousins. 
   He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Jenkins.

Betty Jean Hensley

Feb. 18, 1933 - Mar. 7, 2012

   Betty Jean (Swanson) Hensley, 79, Greentown, left this earthly home to be welcomed into her Heavenly home at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 2012 at St. Joseph’s hospital surrounded by her family both in spirit and in person.   Betty was born on February 18, 1933 in St. Andrews Bay, Florida to Clayton Louise Craft.  She was raised by her Grandparents, Len and Leta Hudson.
   Betty attended the Bay County (FL) school systems.  She car-hopped during her summer breaks and after school in the Panama City Florida area.  It was during this time that she stole the heart of a certain young Air Force boy from Greentown, Indiana. Lawrence Hensley.  They were married on May 24, 1954 in Panama City.  They returned to Greentown following Lawrence’s discharge from the Air Force.  Lawrence passed away in December of 2009.
   Betty became a farmer’s wife, a daughter-in-law and a mother, grandmother and finally a great grandmother and fantastic cook, all of which she loved being known as up until she drew her final breath.  She worked briefly out of the house for the cafeterias at Howard Community Hospital and also Szabos  cafeteria at Chrysler.  She retired from working outside the house in 1980.She was always the “scalloped potato supplier” to any dinners that Lawrence and his co-workers decided to have at work at Chrysler.
   She was a member of the Christian Church.  She had just finished her goal of re-reading her Bible from Genesis to The Revelation before her 79th birthday.
   Betty is survived by her children, Leta Gayle Hensley of Kokomo and  Edgar Lawrence Hensley of Tomball, Texas,  grandchildren Anthony (Debbie) Emery of Greentown and Jennifer Nicole Hensley of Kokomo.  She is also survived by three great granddaughters, and a great grandson.  Also surviving are Hubert “Pete” (Annette) Jansenius, South Carolina, who she helped to raise and Arthur (Annette) Jansenius of Florida and a sister Annette Montain also of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her mother, two uncles and a brother, Raymond Jansenius, a sister Martha Collins and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edgar and Zella Hensley.

   Wilda K. Kirkpatrick, 83, Greentown, died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Howard County to Von and Verna (Swan) Gentis. On Feb. 25, 1948, in Indianapolis, she married Robert Kirkpatrick and he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2008
   Mrs. Kirkpatrick had been a homemaker and farm wife. She graduated from Union Township High School, and was a member of the former Antioch Christian Church. She attended First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Swayzee Order of the Eastern Star, Willing Workers Antique Society and she was a member of the Red Hat Society of Braden Castle in Braden, Fla. She enjoyed cooking.
   Survivors include a son, Bryan (Susan) Kirkpatrick, Greentown; a daughter, Janet (Stan) Middlesworth, Greentown; five grandchildren, Rev. Laura Kirkpatrick McMasters (Daniel), Pulsiki, Tenn., Andrea Kirkpatrick, Remington, Jenna Kirkpatrick, Ann Arbor, Mich., Father Kevin Middlesworth (Karen), Wheaton, Ill., and Brooke Middlesworth and fiance Josh Chapman, Muncie; four great-grandchildren, Sophie McMasster, Phinehas Middlesworth, Julian Middlesworth and Oliver Middlesworth; a sister in law, Maxine Gentis, Marion; aunts Joan Spurgeon and Esther Shelley; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Rex Gentis; and three grandchildren, Shawna Middlesworth, Amber Middlesworth and Matthew J. Kirkpatrick.
   Funeral services were Monday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church, 127 S. Meridian St., Greentown, with Rev. Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.

   Philip H. Stahl, 82, Greentown, died at 8:46 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. He was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Howard County, the son of Francis F. “Dutch” and Violet (Lamb) Stahl.
   Philip was a 1947 graduate of Greentown High School, and a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph College, Rensselaer. He was a retired revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and past grand knight from 1989 to 1990 in Bradenton, Fla. He was also a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the Elks Lodge. He served his country as corporal in the U.S. Army.
   Philip is survived by his son, Michael F. Stahl and his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Toni L. Jones and her husband, Bill; a sister, Helen Hickman; four grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Amanda Stairs and her husband, Nathan, Taylor O’Connell and her husband, Daniel, and Brittney Stahl; one great-grandchild, Marshall O’Connell.
   A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, March 5, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, Kokomo, with the Rev. Fr. Joshua Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown with military honors provided by the American Legion.

   Conni Sue (Click) Julius, 63, Greentown, passed away at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital and Healthcare. She was born March 14, 1948, in Frankfort, to James Earl Click and Jean (Turner) Click. On Aug. 28, 1993, in Kempton, she married Ronald L. “Ron” Julius, and he survives.
   Conni graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1966 and then attended Vincennes University. She had worked at Delco-Delphi and retired in 2001 after 30 years of service. Conni loved volleyball and enjoyed Las Vegas, playing the slots, traveling and camping in their RV. She loved her grandkids and spending time with them.
   Survivors are husband Ronald “Ron” Julius, Greentown; daughter, Tamara (Jason) Shepard, Kokomo; son, Michael (Hannah) Julius, en route to Jakarta, Indonesia; grandchildren, Zachary and Alexis Shepard; brother, James (Virginia) Click, Scircleville; sister, Debbie (Author) Faulkner, Scircleville; brother, Jeff Click, Kokomo; father and mother-in-law, William “Bill” and Mary Lou Julius, Greentown; niece and nephews, Erick Click, Joshua Click, Gabe Faulkner, Austin Faulkner, Jesse Click, Cara Click; and several special aunts, uncles, great-nieces and great-nephews and many dear friends.
   She was preceded in death by her parents.

   Joseph D. “Danny” Vallosia, 73, Greentown, died at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born April 6, 1938, in Vigo County, the son of Joseph D. and Anna (McKillip) Vallosia. On Sept. 20, 1957, in Greentown, he married Connie J. Vallosia, who preceded him in death July 11, 2011.
   Danny was employed by Kingston Products for 24 years. He went on to work for K-mart Automotive, Hulces Supermarket and Eastern Elementary School.
   He loved gardening, watching Indiana University basketball, Cubs baseball, Notre Dame football and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Danny coached little league in the 1960s and ’70s and softball in the early 1980s.
   He was a 20-year member of the Greentown Special Police.
   Survivors include his five children, Debbie Hainlen (Len), Greentown, Danny Vallosia, Greentown, Kim Sprague (John), Walled Lake, Mich., Dennis Vallosia, Greentown, Tami Mann, Greentown; seven grandchildren, Jason Towne, Kayla Vallosia and her fiance, Jonathan Harris, Eric Hainlen, Brandon Hainlen and fiance, Kourtney Cox, Christopher Sprague, Erik Mann and Sara Mann.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two children, Kenneth Vallosia and Kandie Vallosia.
   Funeral services were Friday, March 2, at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.

Obituary - Dick Trott

Aug. 21, 1941 - Oct. 14, 2011

   Richard B. “Dick” Trott, 70, Kokomo, died at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at his home.  He was born August 21, 1941 in Howard County, the son of Troy Victor & Rosemary (Wirick) Trott.  On April 8, 1979 he married Nancy Bockelman, who preceded him in death August 27, 2000.
