Donald L. Hudson

Donald L. Hudson, 92, Greentown, died 1:28 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born March 2, 1919, in Shirley, to Hobart H. And Ruth (Johnson) Hudson. On Sept. 20, 1942, in Laramie, Wyo., he married Lyla Jean (Craig) Hudson, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 2005.
Mr. Hudson owned and operated Hudson’s Fine Foods. He opened his first store in
November 1945 and continued working there until he retired on May 20, 1980.
He graduated from Green-town High School in 1937.
Mr. Hudson served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 25, 1941, until Nov. 9, 1945.
He belonged to the Masonic Lodge.
Don enjoyed boating on his pontoon, fishing and also watching Colts football.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Lunsford, Greentown; sisters, Mary Lou and Bill Julius, Greentown, and Helen Greene, Kokomo, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Wynema Crites; and brothers, Landon Hudson and Robert Hudson.
Services were Saturday, March 3, at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial followed the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.
